  • Winter short coat, made in the 1940s, Latvia
  • Thick, heavyweight, coarse homespun wool in natural shades of two-tone brown, featuring a vertical herringbone stripe pattern. The coat is lined with cotton and has a very thick, warm insulating interlayer 
  • The coat is heavy worn, with areas of more pronounced wear and thinning, particularly around the pockets and sleeves. Overall, however, it remains well preserved and is still wearable 
  • A heavily insulated winter coat with strongly padded shoulders, a double-breasted front and wide notched lapels, this garment is a striking example of 1940s fashion and the harsh everyday rural living conditions of the period
